This ritual’s Ritual Power cost is tripled when it is performed outside of Veilguard.
This ritual can be used in one of two ways: to witness an oath by a Band and record it in the songs of Valorhall, or to reward the Band for fulfilling their oath by calling upon one of Vallaros’ Heralds.
If you wish to witness an oath, the ritual has a Ritual Power requirement of 20. Until the next sunrise, you can register an oath sworn by a Band with Wheelhouse. The leader of the Band must be present when you register the ritual, and you must bring a text copy of the oath itself.
The oath must specify an action that the Band will take or victory condition that they will achieve over the course of the current event (”defend this person,” “hold this specific piece of ground,” “achieve victory,” “slay X enemies,” “kill this particular enemy,” etc.). It cannot be vague or general in nature (”behave gloriously” or “fight honorably,” for example), nor can it focus on combats that will occur outside of the current event.
After the Band has succeeded or failed in upholding their oath, it is up to their leader to register the fact with Wheelhouse within 1 month of the end of the event; if they succeed in upholding their oath, then the second part of this ritual can take place at a subsequent event.
When you perform the second part of this ritual, you must alert Wheelhouse ahead of time (preferably before the event starts so that they have as much time as possible) so that they can arrange for a Herald of Vallaros to attend the ritual. When you call upon the Herald, the ritual has a Ritual Power requirement of 4.
Once the second part of the ritual has been performed, the Herald will appear and grant a reward commensurate with the difficulty of the oath the Band fulfilled, and the valor and skill which they displayed in fulfilling their oath. The reward can take the form of magic item(s), resources, quest leads, or something else; the Band leader is encouraged to discuss with Wheelhouse what they and their Band would like, but their requests are not guaranteed to be granted.
