- Tier 1, Combat Feat, Ability, Interrupt, Defend
- Reaction
- Requirements: You are not currently Slowed or Stunned
When an ally you can see is targeted by an attack, you move to intercept the blow or exact vengeance on their attacker.
You can choose to either Stride or Step once when you use this ability in order to reach your ally or their attacker. If you do so, you gain +1 level of the Stunned condition after using this ability unless you spend 1 charge of Inspiration when you use this ability to negate that condition. If your new position would let you provide Cover to your ally against the attack, they gain the Bonus to their saving throw for you being in the way (see the Cover and Concealment rules for details).
Once you have moved or chosen not to move, you perform one of the following actions:
- Use the Parry ability against the attack, adding the Bonus you would normally gain from that ability to your ally’s saving throw. You must be adjacent to your ally and able to Parry the attack as if it were targeting you in order to do this.
- Use the Shield Block ability against that attack, granting the DR you would normally gain from that ability to your ally against that attack. You must be wielding a Shield and either adjacent to your ally to block a melee attack or directly between your ally and the attacker to block a ranged attack.
- Use the Attack Of Opportunity ability against the creature attacking your ally, if you have that Feat. The attacking creature must be within your melee Reach for you to do this.
