Should your character wish to contact an NPC during Downtime, they can write them a letter. You can send a letter by dropping it off at Wheelhouse during a Confluence or emailing [email protected] up to one month after the end of a Confluence. The rules for letter-writing are as follows:
- You can send at most one letter during Downtime.
- You can send a letter on behalf of another character, essentially using your character’s once-per-Downtime-delivery to send the other character’s letter instead of one of your own.
- Any letter sent to someone in your direct chain of command (i.e. your nation’s leaders or top military officials) is free of charge.
- Any letter sent to someone in your nation costs 20 Scales to deliver.
- Any letter sent to someone outside your nation costs 50 Scales to deliver.
- Miirfolk can send a letter to an NPC within the Primal Wilds for 100 Scales.
- Grimmfolk can (with the opening of the Autumnal Gate in Kieftlund) send a letter to an NPC within the Emberfall for 100 Scales.
Note that this does not guarantee you a reply, especially if you are reaching out to political leaders in nations other than yours, only that it will eventually get to your intended recipient. It also takes time, and (especially if you send a message internationally) it may take more than one Confluence for your intended recipient to send you a reply.
