Demographics

The two primary demographics of the Republic are Dwarven and Fae, with a small but growing minority of humans, and a very small population of Elves. There are many people of mixed Fae/Dwarf heritage in the nation; it’s not uncommon to meet a Fae with a Dwarven Clan name and Dwarven habits, or a Dwarf with a decidedly Fae-sounding name and wearing Fae clothing. There is no stigma attached to such heritage, and in fact the existence of such children is often quietly celebrated as a symbol of the Republic’s prosperity and openness.

Fae are the dominant demographic in the Arid Grasslands, while Dwarves are most common in the Barren Reach. The Coastal Frontier has a slightly higher percentage of Fae than Dwarves, but is also home to many of the new Human and Elven immigrants, making it even more of a melting pot than the rest of the nation.

The Fae and Dwarven populations maintain their own cultures but take pains to include anyone who is interested in their celebrations and traditions, whatever their lineage. Dwarven clanhalls host Fae and human guests regularly as witnesses in their naming and succession ceremonies, and Fae rituals of seasonal passage regularly involve any Dwarf who is in the vicinity as extra celebrants. Many Dwarven families have taken up Fae traditions, and the Fae have likewise adopted a number of the Dwarven traditions and rituals that are not too heavily focused on a Clan’s particular heritage.
