Greatness always costs something. For those willing to pay the price, this ritual will bring low their enemies, in exchange for the lives of their own soldiers. This is no glorious victory, there is no honor to be found here — but if your ambitions demand that your foes perish, then what price is too high for victory?
You target one Force with this ritual. You must deliver the Curse Card for this ritual to an Envoy of the Nation which controls that Force or to a character who has been granted command of that Force for it to have an effect.
At the start of the next Round of Downtime, the target Force suffers 1000 Casualties, or however many Casualties would be necessary to reduce it to 1 Health, whichever is less.
At some point during the next Round of Downtime, the targeted Force can choose an enemy Force within the same Region and deal the same number of Casualties to it.
(Casualties represent a variable amount of damage, whatever amount would be necessary to reduce the Force’s Effective Combat Strength by the stated number of Casualties after multiplying its Base Combat Strength by its Health. A Force with 2000 BCS taking 1000 Casualties would suffer 50 damage, for example, reducing its ECS by -1000 down to 1000, while a Force with 4000 BCS taking 1000 Casualties would suffer only 25 damage, reducing its ECS by -1000 down to 3000.)
You can overcharge this ritual; for every additional +20 Ritual Power you add to the ritual, you can target +1 additional Force with this ritual within the same Province as the original target, allowing it to deal damage to an enemy Force of its choice just as the original target could.
If this ritual is performed outside of Veilguard, its required Ritual Power is quadrupled.
