The Cliffborn started out as a Helm of Dwarves based in the mountains of Nordenveig, who came down out of the mountains to raid coastal villages. However, over time they've shifted away from raiding, and have grown in number and legitimacy until they’ve become the de facto defenders of the mountainous interior of the Peninsula, moving through the mountains to protect Holds in need and kill Holdless bandits and monsters that making their lairs in mountain caves.
