Grapple
- 1 Minor Action
- Attack, Maneuver
You attempt to grab your target and control its movements. The target must be within your Reach, and cannot be more than one size category larger than you. Make a Melee Athletics Attack against your target’s Fortitude DC.
You take a -4 Penalty to your attack roll for every size category your target’s size exceeds yours, and gain a +4 Bonus to your attack roll for every size category your size exceeds your target’s.
You take a -2 Penalty to your attack roll if you are attempting to grapple your target with only one hand.
- Critical Hit: Your target is Grappled by you until the end of your next turn or they Escape, whichever happens first, and you gain a +4 Bonus to checks to maintain the Grapple until the end of your next turn.
- Hit: Your target is Grappled by you until the end of your next turn or they Escape, whichever happens first. You pull them to the nearest space adjacent to you.
- Critical Miss: If the target is currently Grappled by you, they automatically Escape. The target can choose to either use its Reaction to make a melee weapon Strike against you or to automatically Hit with a Grapple or Trip attempt against you.
If you are already Grappling a creature, you can use this action again to maintain the Grapple, resetting the effect’s duration. If you Hit or Critically Hit to maintain a Grapple, the effects listed above occur, and in addition you can choose one of the following effects:
- You make a melee weapon Strike against the target as a Free Action, using an Unarmed Strike or Natural Attack. You do not have to have a free hand to perform this action.
- You make a melee weapon Strike against the target as a Free Action, using a Bulk L weapon. You take a -2 Penalty to your attack roll with this attack. You must have a free hand to wield the weapon in order to perform this action.
- You Stride up to half your speed, dragging your target with you. This movement allows you to ignore the movement restriction of the Grappled condition.
- You move your target to another space adjacent to you.
- You inflict the Restrained condition on the target until they Escape from the Grapple. They still count as being Grappled by you (and can Escape as usual for a Grapple) unless you or an ally take the time to tie them up while they are Restrained. You can only inflict this effect if you Critically Hit with your attack roll to maintain a Grapple and are using both hands to Grapple the target. You gain a +4 Bonus to Grapple attack rolls to maintain a Grapple against a Restrained target.
Note that the Grappled condition applies to you as well while you are Grappling a creature.
