The folk of Lakedemos like to say that war and strength are in the water of their Isle, that something about it causes mortals and beasts alike to become powerful and driven. Whether this is true or not, the Isle has given rise to some of the greatest martial heroes of the League across the millennia since the Godswar, and its culture is heavily focused on martial achievement, both in the science of warfare and the physical training of those who would execute it.
Lakedemos is the birthplace of the Hetairos, and temples to Vallaros where those warrior-monks can train without the distractions of worldly matters are scattered across the Isle. Its capital, Lykonai, is heavily decentralized, made up of dozens of fortified mikropoli spread across a massive crater left behind by the Godswar, without any central acropolis or city center that invaders might be able to take over.
