Schlannezahr

Schlannezahr forms the western edge of the Grimmwold, stretching along the coast from Faen’miir to Iskaldur. The deciduous trees of the interior abruptly shift into a tangled mangrove forest along the coastline. The Wold has devoured most of the actual coast, leaving no beaches to speak of along the western shore of the forest. All that remains is an unbroken wall of mangrove rising up from the ocean dotted by rocky promontories that the trees have been unable to sink their roots into under the regular barrage of storm and wave.

The fishing along the coast is incredibly bountiful, and the fisherfolk rival the skills of Jadefang Cazador Crews in dealing with the sea serpents and other such beasts that make their way out of the deep ocean into Grimmwold waters. The people who live in the region are a salt- and weather-beaten folk who tend to be more joyous and boisterous than other Grimmfolk, despite the near-constant cloud cover and rainy weather of their home. The Greenshadow that afflicts the rest of the Grimmwold is much weaker on the coast, the salt air untainted by Ferukhar’s lingering malaise, which has led to the creation of a number of educational institutions along the coast specifically to help raise and educate the next generation in an environment free from the taint of corruption.
