Tidebells

Tidebell is the region surrounding the the City of Bellharbor, which sprawls along both banks of the Blackwater River as it enters Blackwater Bay. The region takes its name from the ringing gong-like sound that some of the cliffs and sea-rocks scattered around the mouth of the Blackwater make when the tide comes in at specific times of the day.

The Province is marshy in the area immediately around the City, but as one travels away from the shore the landscape soon rises into gently rolling farmland dotted by copses of trees. The region is wet and fertile, and has a thriving agricultural sector, exporting both foodstuffs and magical herbs in large quantities. It is one of the oldest continually-inhabited areas of the Federation, and many families here claim to be able to trace their genealogy back to farmers who worked the same fields over a millennia ago. Bellharbor’s location at the juncture of the Blackwater’s mouth and the Bay means that the region is also at the heart of the Federation’s maritime trade, and its economy benefits significantly from this connection to the Continent beyond the nation’s borders.
