Currency

Mentions of currency within the rules are almost always going to be denoted in Scales, the basic unit of currency across the Continent. However, because carrying around a bag of dozens or hundreds of coins is not always safe or practical, it is possible to exchange Scales for higher denominations of currency at Wheelhouse or reputable moneylenders within Veilguard:

Trading-Marks

“Trading-Marks” are scrips issued by the Golden Wheel, a Continent-wide merchant association, which can be traded in for a large quantity of a specific bulk resource. Marks are in high demand from the various nations, much more so than the more magical resources, simply due to how important food, steel, and lumber are to a nation’s economy and security compared to the materials needed to fashion a single magical item or a dozen potions.

During the last two Churnings, the Golden Wheel has managed to either get a trader into Veilguard or negotiate to have one of the residents of the town act as their representative, and this newest Churning is no different. You can seek out the Golden Wheel’s representative within Veilguard to trade coin for Marks, or Marks for coin, though it’s worth remembering that supply and demand may radically change the prices on offer either way.

Herbs

Herb Gardens’ main products are, unsurprisingly, herbs. Specifically, they produce magically-potent plants that are in high demand for their use in alchemical preparations.

The normal selection of herbs grown by most Herb Gardens on the Continent is a mix of Tzacanthe, Shivering Crow, Ashbloom, Frostcreeper, Witherroot, and Bluethistle. Tzacanthe is always being grown regardless of location or season, as it is a critical binder in almost every alchemical mixture, making its cultivation a requirement for nearby alchemy businesses to function. The other five Herbs are usually grown as needed or as the weather and soil allows.
